Soulless to me is the quality of lacking any kind of deep thought, genuine care, or well thought-out and implemented concepts.

Like that lead pipe or fire extinguisher, though, AppleJack is not necessarily recommended for recreational use. AppleJack supports Snow Leopard, and recent updates have improved the start-up process.
